Death and Disasters

Wilfing on Wikipedia can be quite a sobering experience sometimes.

List of natural disasters by death toll

List of wars and disasters by death toll

Scroll down to see hundreds of major disasters that have struck and claimed lives of millions in one sweep. They happen so frequently.

Some little known statistics on death tolls:

Democide : 27m-72mPolitical repression & Great Leap Forward famine – People’s Republic of China (1949-1975) under Mao Zedong
(thats right, compare that to the Nazis – 21m)

1m – 5m – Democide of Chinese Muslims (Panthay Rebellion, Muslim Rebellion) (are our Pakistani friends/Muslim Ummah listening? Oh i know, this is jewish/hindu conspiracy)
Political Demonstration : 87,000Chinese massacres of Tibetan pro-independence protesters (Tibet, China 1959)

“THE” Deadliest Natural disaster : 1931 Yellow River flood – 1m to 2m Dead.

Human Sacrifice & Mass suicide : 1945 – Upto 80,000 Japanese people, mostly civilians committed suicide at the impending victory of American invading troops in Battle of Okinawa, during WWII. For those havent already, checkout the Clint Eastwood directed, Letters from Iwo Jima.

1815 is regarded as the Year without Summer (find out why)

Observations:

– War, Religion and Karl Marx suck.
– 1931 was a pretty bloody year. there were a couple of wars as well.
– China has a seriously fked up past with a history of natural disasters. They bag the top spot in every major category of Disaster or War. They score in millions even in death toll. 6 of the worlds 10 deadliest natural disasters occurred in China. A look at the environment in China reveals that just air pollution causes up to 750,000 premature deaths in China each year.
– Pakistan is relatively clean fact sheet.
– India has a few to its name.
– Crusades ???
– How come we are still alive??
– … Whats that sound…. !?

The atomic bombing of Nagasaki, Japan on August 9, 1945

The Mushroom cloud from the Nagasaki Explosion. The technology you see at work is old.

Israel has em. Pyongyang has em. Irans making em. Russia is selling em. Pakistan is stealing em. World is buying em. YOU have very little chance. Enjoy your life while it lasts.

  1. I don’t mean to be rude, but 1816 was the Year Without Summer.

Overall, I like this page a lot. You make some excellent points. But, I still think Karl Marx deserves credit in his own right. He didn’t intentionally send the world to war. He was long dead before Communism made any significant mark on the world.

He simply argued against the class system that was, in fact, unjust. A lot of people died due to unfair working conditions. His ideas were completely credible. He just overlooked the severity of man’s lust for power. If a communist government were to behave as he intended (by governing fairly and taking care of their people), then they would potentially be an incredibly successful nation. But those with power save resources for themselves, and control the nation greedily, leaving only a broken shell of a society.

I apologize for my long comment. I don’t mean to discredit this page, I really liked it. But I just wanted to argue that one point.

  2. Yes, 1816 was indeed the Year without summer, and not 1815. The cause – eruption of Mount Tambora and other volcanic activity during 1815 . Thanks for the correction!

Well I agree with you. I wrote the article in a very casual sense, the use of his name was to emphasize more on how Communism(his child) was abused. He stands among the ranks of those who created religions, atom bombs, powers with which anyone could affect the lives of a billion odd people. Great individuals, but with blood on their hands.

Your argument: “But those with power(capitalists) save resources for themselves, and control the nation greedily, leaving only a broken shell of a society.”
    – I cannot dispute that. But even communism empowers an elitist few to enforce communism. Because of my limited knowledge, i will not say anything else.

    Thanks for you comments 😉

  3. ‘Israel has em. Pyongyang has em. Irans making em. Russia is selling em. Pakistan is stealing em. World is buying em. YOU have very little chance. Enjoy your life while it lasts.’

So true… iagree with you…..its a thought provoking post.
