I wonder why I wonder

I wonder why, I wonder why,
I wonder why I wonder;
I wonder why, I wonder why
I wonder why I wonder!

~Richard Feynman

Reply to someone who asked me if I really understood the context of the quote(needless to say I was trying to impress her, she was so pissed off she wont reply after my 2nd email *shrugs*):

I cant say I truly understand one of the most classic(and abstract) quotes by a genius … someone who saw infinity in a grain of sand. But even though I had heard this quote before, it was a very unique revelation when Dr Jayaraman said it at the Centre of Science Communication Seminar on Creative writing in Science and Fiction. Old men i guess.

It occurred to me that this might be the secret of humanity. Metacognition! the ability to consciously think about thinking. Those words are probably the very proof of Man’s sapience or wisdom.

What builds my inner value? Why do I feel guilty when I do wrong? How would I want to be remembered when I die? But most importantly – Why must I question?

A giant oak emerges out of the seeds in the droppings of a bird – The original context of the quote does not matter to me.

Why do I watch Naruto ?

Naruto My friends wonder why I watch Naruto. Or do they? Actually they dont give a rat’s ass. Only maybe 3 people in my college. But 272 episodes, 4 movies & 394 manga chapters with the story still going strong, Masashi Kishimoto has created one of the most memorable characters in the history of Anime and Manga to have capture the imagination of a generation. The manga weaves folklore with the story of a boy, Uzumaki Naruto. A childlike, brave, simple and stupid boy who always sees the positive side of things. He forms bonds and leaves an unforgettable impression on anyone he meets.

People’s fascination with the character lies partly in how you think he’s all cheer and fun but in reality his upbringing is very harsh. He has a dark past and without parents and animosity from the villagers, he strives with single minded determination to become the strongest ninja and leader of the village and protect it with his life. Upon accepting and understanding his past hardships, he still keeps going forward with all that positive energy.

My interest in the series is perhaps best described with a short clip of one of the episodes.

Removing the FlashDrive autorun.inf Virus

victory1.png Flash drives have become cheap and a preferred choice of data transfer for everybody these days. And in my college almost every system even with the best antivirus protection offered by NOD32 or Kaspersky is infected. Since I’ve been asked by many about this problem and how to fix it, Im writing a detailed account of the steps I follow to remove the infection. Ill also be writing some workarounds so even if you cant remove the virus you can get along with your life. Ill be updating this page often.

As of now my system is free from all infections and working perfectly well, but this is not the first that Im saying something like this immediately before my whole system crashes. But Ive always managed to fix it, never had to format my computer, however severe the infection. So if you have any trouble, follow instructions and then drop in with your details, I might be able to help.

The Butterfly Effect – That lingering feeling …

thebutterflyeffect.jpg

The phrase refers to the idea that a butterfly’s wings might create tiny changes in the atmosphere that ultimately cause a tornado to appear (or prevent a tornado from appearing). The flapping wing represents a small change in the initial condition of the system, which causes a chain of events leading to large-scale phenomena. Had the butterfly not flapped its wings, the trajectory of the system might have been vastly different

200px-thebutterflyeffect1_poster.jpgYesterday I saw the The Butterfly Effect. I cant remember the last time I was so deeply affected by a movie. Maybe it was Ran – War, downfall, betrayal or Shawshank Redemption – Hope or like the lesser known Simon Birch – God has a plan for everyone.

But this time it was different. An unexplainable surge of fear and adrenaline flowed through me for most part of the movie all through the night. I never thought this would happen in an Aston Kutcher movie. Such a Cinema-critique-wannbe be I am.

Ill quickly take you through the movie. Evan Treborn (Ashton Kutcher), who suffered severe traumas as a boy and a teenager, blacks out frequently, often at moments of high stress. While searching for an answer to heal his emotional wounds, he finds that when he reads from his adolescent journals, he travels back in time, and is able to essentially “redo” parts of his past, and thereby causing the blackouts he experienced as a child. There are consequences of his choices. Any change that he makes in the past propagates back to the present; his alternate futures vary from frat boy to prisoner to amputee. Everything around him changes as well – for worse. Read More…

Indian women need tan ?

or more like does Priyanka Chopra need tan ?

MSN: Priyanka Chopra not starving herself for ‘Fashion’

“It’s set on the beach of Miami. Imagine two months on the sun and sand and so the toned body would be just what the dietician ordered. But, sorry, I don’t get into a bikini for Karan’s film,” Priyanka was firm.”

Huh? Couldnt get that part Miss Priyanka. What does sun and sand have to do with you becomming all skinny? Clearly you dont need to tan.

Ill take that as a slip of the tongue. But what is it about Indian women? Often I find they cant tell between chalk and cheese.

Caliban’s Dream

calibandv.jpg

Be not afeard; the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices
That, if I then had waked after long sleep,
Will make me sleep again: and then, in dreaming,
The clouds methought would open and show riches
Ready to drop upon me; that, when I waked,
I cried to dream again.

Jackie Chan & Kim Hee Seon – Endless Love – OST The Myth

Jackie Chan is a legend. For those who dont know, Jackie is a very accomplished singer in China and has released over 100 song titles. One of which is so popular that over 95% of Chinese have heard it, cant remember the track tho 😛

Last i heard of it was in the Jackie Chan Adventures Cartoon Series.

Well the song next is called Endless Love from the Movie “The Myth”. I had totally forgotten about this song until a friend posted an FFX Anime music video adaptation of it. There is however another version by Nathan Wang & Gary Chase, which i think is actually better. Both are included in the OST Album of “The Myth” as 02. Endless Love I and 19. Endless Love II respectively. Youtube is fine but you’ve gotto listen to the song in its full grace in the Theatre or MP3.

Included the (rare)english translation of the lyrics too!

Jie kai wo, zui shen mi de deng dai
Xing xing zhui luo fong zai chui dong
Zhong yu zai jiang ni yong ru huai zhong
Lliang ke xin chan dou
Xiang xin wo bu bian de zhen xin
Qian nian deng dai yao wo cheng nuo
Wu lun jing guo duo shao de han dong
Wo jue bu fang shou

Release me from this mysterious waiting
the stars are falling; the wind is blowing.
Finally I can hold you in my arms.
Two hearts beating together.
Believe me that my heart has never-change
waiting a thousand year, You have my promise
No matter how many cold winter have passed
I will never let you go.

One thing is funny the keys of my keyboard(Logitech Classic Slim) have become surprisingly softer. prolly because they have swollen up with all the biting thats going on inside. Formic acid reacting with Silicone based rubber ? … umm dunno.

List of wars and disasters by death toll

Scroll down to see hundreds of major disasters that have struck and claimed lives of millions in one sweep. They happen so frequently.

Some little known statistics on death tolls:

Democide : 27m-72mPolitical repression & Great Leap Forward famine – People’s Republic of China (1949-1975) under Mao Zedong

This night

This is an amazing night.

I wish we had the technology or the magic to share feelings and experiences.

Let me describe to you the spectacle around(and above) me as best i can, let me tell you im not so good at this, but here goes.

Its a half moon night. Cold. Im wearing a jacket, and a monkey cap.

Sitting on the roof of my house, a one storeyed resort kinda flat, just like many others in this new township.

The sea is barely a few kilometres away and i can see glittering yellow lights along the oil pipelines in the horizon. Its dark but lights all around the place, along the highway just beyond the walls, its quite silent now.

So im sitting on my roof, with a laptop with wireless internetconnection, reading manga, Naruto chapter 382. Jiraya is on the verge of defeat against Pein. he seems to be nearing his end … Read More…

Reservation System in India

INDIA TODAY. March, 2007
An Ancient Tale Retold.

The Grasshopper and the Ant

The Ant and the Grasshopper.
Old version:
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter so he dies out in the cold.
